Weekend Confirmed 111 - Elder Scrolls Online, Black Ops 2, God of War: Ascension
by Garnett Lee, May 04, 2012 11:00am PDTBlockbuster games headline this episode of Weekend Confirmed. Elder Scrolls Online, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, and God of War: Ascension alone could more than fill the show but there's more. Mike Schramm of TUAW and Joystiq helps the two Jeffs and Garnett bring the awesome needed to keep up with it all. The discussion of role-playing games also includes the recently released pirate-themed Risen 2. Sniper Elite V2 and a couple other things also make their way into the crowded mix before Finishing Moves puts the final exclamation point on the show.

The cellphone comparison is missing one key point. The hardware is actually subsided in that that model. You pay less for the phone is exchange for a contract, then you pay for your service. Without the contract you can still buy the phone and pay for the service. In the 360 model you pay the full price of the hardware plus the service plus a little more in the end. Nothing is subsidized. You're probably better off using a credit card.
Secondly, there is nothing good about offering a product to someone who can't afford it by making it look cheaper upfront and charging more in the end.
I would however be open to the idea that MS charges me a fee per month to lease the hardware. Then when I'm done with it or it breaks I can return it. No commitment.
