As one of the most recognizable casual game brands on the market, it's a surprise that this hasn't happened any sooner. PopCap has announced that it has finally finalized a number of licensing deals that will bring its properties to the non-digital world. The first products to come out of this agreement will represent Plants vs Zombies. Bejeweled and other franchises will be adapted next year. Jazzwares will create a series of plush toys, figures and "electronic accessories" including headphones, speakers, and device cases. Seen above: PvZ plushies.

Bioworld Merchandising

Bioworld Merchandising will create apparel, headware, bags, and accessories. Pictured above: a PvZ wallet.

Trends International

Trends International is developing calendars and posters. In addition, Walls360 will offer custom wall graphics. Funko! will be creating their own PvZ Pop! vinyl figures, and MjC International will create PvZ-themed adult sleepwear and boxers.

I never understood -- why no sequel?

I thought they were working on one. I also thought the design time for the first one was ridiculously long. Not sure about either of those facts though

I've always wondered why no sequel myself. I tend to play a lot of FPS, and Guitar Hero/Rock Band, but I always find myself going back to PvZ. Maybe they don't think they could match the original? Whatever the reason, would love to see a follow-up sometime...

I bet there will be a sequel. Maybe they're just making double sure that it is awesome.

I was talking with another about this sequel and we wondered what other new plants they could include. I was thinking maybe trees? I donno. :/

Haha this is funny. In China PvZ is huge and there are plush toys, keychains, tee shirts, iPhone cases, birthday cakes, shoes, children's backpacks, and all manner of shit with Plants vs Zombies on it. Outside nearly any subway station in the evening you can find dudes selling this stuff. Angry Birds merch, too. All of it bootleg of course.

Talk about too little too late. I mean I am sure there is still lots of people playing this game, but they missed the zeitgeist opportunity long ago.
