Crysis 3 ruled out on Wii U
by Steve Watts, Apr 25, 2012 3:00pm PDTCrytek has been eager to show off its proprietary CryEngine on more devices, which is why we got pretty impressive console versions of Crysis 2 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Now that Crysis 3 is on the way and slated for consoles again, it should technically be able to run on the upcoming Wii U platform as well. But not likely, according to Crytek director of creative development Rasmus Hoejengaard.
"Not a fat chance," Hoejengaard told Destructoid in response to a question about coming to Wii U. "I don't think it's possible. Right now the launch platforms are PC, Xbox, and PS3, and I don't think it's in the cards for a Wii U version."
Whether that sharp denial is simply to stomp out any rumors of another version that the company isn't planning, or a slight at the Wii U's capabilities, is difficult to tell. We've heard conflicting reports regarding the Wii U's power, some developers claiming it's on-par with current consoles and others claiming it's a step down.
