It was welcome news last week that EA had revised its Origin ban policy, no longer blocking banned players from every game they own on the digital distribution platform. It's since come to light that Valve has made a similar change on Steam--over two months ago, in fact. Hurrahs all round!
Steam accounts are now locked, rather than outright disabled, Steam forum volunteer moderator 'heffebaycay' pointed out. Locked accounts can still play their games, but are not able purchase any more, activate games from keys, gift games, or use Steam's trading features.
Being banned and losing every game you've bought on an account is a common anxiety still surrounding digital distribution, so these moves from Steam and Origin are certainly welcome.
