Rune sequel being considered

The official Rune Facebook page says the studio is "considering a sequel," and is soliciting feedback on preferred platforms.

A sequel to the cult action game Rune may happen after all. So far we only have a few vague teases to go on, but that's at least a sign that developer Human Head is weighing the possibility.

"We are considering a sequel to the cult hit classic Rune!" reads a note on the game's Facebook page. A poll also asks for the preferred platform, and unsurprisingly PC/Mac is in the lead by a wide margin. Consoles are in a distant second, followed by mobile devices in third place. No one wants to play Rune as a web browser game, apparently; it's in fourth place with zero votes.

This doesn't mean we'll see Rune 2, of course, but Human Head must be looking at its next projects as it starts to wrap up Prey 2. Gauging interest is the first step to making it happen, so let them know if you'd plunk down your money for more Rune.

I've played it, it was called "Skyrim" and I was a badass vinking who punched sliced people.

I don't recall slicing off arms and then using those arms as weapons in Skyrim.

Beating people with their own limbs was hilarious. What was even more awesome was running around the map with no arms and being chased by 10 people.

The Rune melee combat was like 1000x times better than Skyrim!

I might actually be thinking of Heretic 2. I played a lot of Heretic 2 multiplayer blade duels and they were awesome

the best way to score a hit was during a player's backswing but that meant if timed right you'd take off their head which was glorious

If that happened in a duel type map, I'd grab their head when they came back and spike it like a football to signify I'm ready to duel.

I loved Heretic 2 back when it first came out. DM was so much fun.

I still think The Heretic Fortress was quite possibly the best team based multiplayer game I've ever played

I both hated and somewhat enjoyed Rune when it came out. The singleplayer was absolutely awful. Terrible monsters, horrible level design, a ridiculous amount of filler content. The multiplayer however was fairly fun for what it was.

Imo, Heretic 2 singleplayer and deathmatch kicked the shit out of it in terms of gameplay, level design, and fun factor.

I went back a few months ago and played through the first few levels of coop with some buddies and also played some of the pvp. We had about 3 people for coop, and about 6 for DM. The SP levels and monsters were even worse than I remembered, but the pvp multiplayer was still pretty ok.

Rune multiplayer was best when you were on a server running a mod. this was an awesome mod that made the mp that much better

It has to be said before someone else does:

New concept: Take every failed pitch, splash some varnish on it and vomit it up on Kickstarter. Whether or not you need the money, it might pay for the tub of redbulls or the end-of-project vacation to Mexico for the QA team!

Paging sgt_boomstick. Omigosh. This would be a dream come true. Few games have rivalled the melee combat of Rune! Playing this game multiplayer and coop is an absolute fucking nut blast.

me and lakren played this game a while ago and it was hilarious!!!

nothing more funny than stacking up on like 4 axes and then just immediately unloading them at the other player only to miss all 4 throws. then running like a bitch as they come at you with their sword reared back
