Space Quest devs form new studio

Two programmers behind the original Space Quest have formed their own studio, aiming to make a sci-fi point-and-click adventure title with modern tropes.

The point-and-click adventure genre is getting a quiet revival from those who remember it fondly, and another pair of original creators are coming back to lend their own voices. Mark Crowe and Scott Murphy, who served as programmers on the 80s classic Space Quest, have formed their own studio and are working on a new game.

Gamasutra reports the new studio is titled "Guys from Andromeda." If that wasn't enough to convince you they're still sci-fi geeks, their first project is another sci-fi point-and-click adventure game, tentatively called "Two Guys Spaceventure."

It won't be entirely a classical throwback, though, as the duo says they're aiming to modernize the experience. "The way games are made and gotten into a player’s home has changed greatly," the studio said in a statement. "We are adapting to the changes, taking advantage of them and charting our own course through space and looking forward to finding that 'new game smell.'"

as much as i loved space quest, kings quest, quest for glory, and all sierra point-and-click games, i don't think that gameplay style works with modern technology. it is too archaic and needs to be updated in my opinion :(

Gemini Rue, Machinarium, and Telltale Games say otherwise.

I really did enjoy Machinarium, despite its brief time in my life.

The gameplay model is pretty universal. Seeing how that it's 90% story and the rest is bare minimum mechanics. Proper adventure gaming is witty dialogue and intuitive puzzles that coincide with story.

Rather than archaic, I would say it's a pretty casual gameplay compared most games today.

There are a lot of hints that this may actually be a Space Quest game!

RE the studio title.... how could it be called anything else?! They ARE the Two Guys Guys from Andromeda.

Been following this for about a week now. Links omitted from news story?

      Here they are:

No kickstarter yet, but all they are asking of fans (besides the job listings) is help spread the word. So please visit those links and sign up/like/vote/share etc.

BTW, and this so awesome.... it's not just the Two Guys that are back, Gary Owens has also signed on as the narrator!!!!! He performed the voice of the narrator for SQ 4 and 6!
