Mass Effect 3 patch results in Xbox 360 crashing bugs

Mass Effect 3's face-fixing patch is apparently still not letting some users import their faces, and has some Xbox 360 users experiencing game crashes to boot.

After a full month and plenty of shrugging resignation, a patch to fix your Shepard's face in Mass Effect 3 finally hit on Monday. But you know what they say: mo' patches, mo' problems. (Yeah, I know no one says that.)

OXM reports that various users across the BioWare forums and other online avenues are complaining that the patch not only failed to fix the face importing bug, but has seemingly created a new bug that can cause the game to crash. A separate thread on the BioWare forums promises the company is "investigating" the crashing issue, and invites feedback from those who have experienced it.

These reports are explicitly about the Xbox 360 version of the game, mind you, and we haven't seen widespread reports of the crashing bug on other platforms. But maybe that's what you get for not fixing your face the good old-fashioned way, with the help of a licensed plastic surgeon.

This seems to be the case of a company scrambling to save their fanbase... and not doing proper testing before release....

      Comeon BioWare.....

I am not even a developer and that cert process is one of the stupidest things both Sony and Microsoft have mandated this generation. I think it's obvious that it's simply not sustainable. They need to let people patch frequent and often. It's software. Moreover it's complex software. Complexity is increasing. Development times are shrinking. Budgets are going up. The cert process is not sustainable and it doesn't even yield the quality a gamer thinks it implies exhibit problems like this or games like Fallout New Vegas. Steam once again shows the way. Let devs patch as often as they want and inform the user to expect a lot less support from the xbox hotline and let the chaos shake itself out.

One reason It's done this way is to prevent software exploits that would allow pirating/CFW/homebrew.

I wonder if those with crashing issues bothered to clear their cache?

Hardly. Smooth, yes, but plenty of buggy animations and other smallish annoyances along the way. Nothing too bad, though, and no crashes.

i know, but that's perfectly normal in most RPGs, and they don't ruin the gameplay like this bug on the 360
