One Piece: Pirate Warriors coming to PS3, from Dynasty Warriors dev
by Andrew Yoon, Apr 11, 2012 2:30pm PDTWhat happens when Omega Force, developers of the Dynasty Warriors franchise, makes a game based on the popular anime series, One Piece? You get a One Piece game that looks and plays like a Dynasty Warriors game, of course.
Namco Bandai has announced One Piece: Pirate Warriors, a localized version of One Piece: Kaizoku Musou. The game will be available exclusively on the PlayStation Network later this year.
Although the game is a PSN release in America, it was a much bigger deal in Japan. The One Piece franchise is much more popular across the Pacific, and was big enough for Sony to launch a special edition gold system alongside the game's launch:
The game will have you controlling many of the franchise's key characters, including Luffy, Zoro, Nami, and more. And Namco Bandai isn't trying to hide its inspiration. Players will do battle "with a massive amount of opponents using the simple controls from the Dynasty Warriors series."
If you have trouble imagining what a Dynasty Warriors: One Piece game would look like, here's a Japanese trailer to give you a taste of what to expect:
