From Software's hardcore dungeon crawler has been long rumored to be receiving a PC port. Dark Souls' release seemed assured, given a recent tease by PC Powerplay magazine. Well, here's more proof of the game's existence: the latest issue of PC Action features the game on its cover. According to a report in NeoGAF, the magazine says that the PC release will be a rather straightforward port of the console original. However, there will be some bonus content to look forward to. Namely, there are two additional bosses: the Guardian of the Tomb and the Black Dragon.

The PC version should be released in August. Shacknews contacted Namco Bandai for further confirmation, but did not receive a response.

Mandatory controller amirite? WASD seems like suicide in this game.

Yeah, pretty sure you are going to need the movement precision of an analog stick for this one.

I say it all depends on the implementation: http://www.shacknews.com/chatty?id=27870260#item_27870260

It could make some thing easier, make others harder, or even make the base combat more interesting for a second playthrough if they go with strafe controls so you don't have to lock on to circle and attack.

Gamepad will definitely be preferred though because we all know how it'll work.

Can't wait for the massive whining that will ensue the second they say the game is best with a controller.

Look what happened to AC3, even the fact that the controls weren't any different than the previous 4 games didn't stop the entitled-drama-queen crowd from acting like it was Nazi Germany.

PC gamers are better gamers, we don't need your fancy controllers.

There are a number of games for which left analog stick + mouse would be the ultimate control scheme.

Someone just needs to make a keyboard with velocity sensitive WASD buttons.

Still too much fiddling with 4 direction buttons to approximate the analog stick. It's obviously fine for FPS but games like Lara Croft, Renegade Ops, Dead Nation etc would be perfect with left stick + mouse. Best combo of movement + aiming for those kinds of games.

I knew someone who played quake this way, looked kinda whacky and meant less buttons.

Who cares, DX11 doens't add THAT much that means shit and a whole retexture is way too much work given the zero impact it'll have on sales.
