Zen Pinball 2 also bringing cross-play pinball to PS3 and Vita
by Andrew Yoon, Apr 09, 2012 12:00pm PDTHot off the heels of The Pinball Arcade's announcement comes Zen Pinball 2 for Vita and PS3. As with TPA, ZP2 promises to offer pinball action at home and on the go, with a single purchase unlocking both handheld and console versions of the game. ZP2 will also (predictably) offer a huge library of DLC, which will be transferable across both PlayStation devices.
As with Pinball FX 2, Zen Pinball 2 will be a "platform." That means the initial app will be free to download. From there, additional tables can be purchased. There will be 26 different tables available on day one, with "regular DLC" planned from a number of partners--including PopCap.
Owners of Zen Studios' previous pinball games--Zen Pinball and Marvel Pinball--will be able to "upgrade" to Zen Pinball 2 for free. Content from those games will then be transferred to the new game. "All of your tables will appear in one location, they will have received updated ball physics and graphics, new trophies and a much deeper social experience including in game notifications, friend challenges and even posting scores to Facebook," Zsolt Kigyossy explained on the PlayStation.Blog. "This free update is our way of saying THANK YOU for supporting Zen Studios and allowing us to continue work on the game we love so much."
While The Pinball Arcade will be available next week, Zen Pinball 2 will be out some time in the "Spring."
