Square Enix has announced release dates for two of its upcoming games for 3DS. First up is Theatrhythm, Square's odd music-based Final Fantasy spin-off. Available on July 3rd, the game features chibi recreations of fan-favorite characters from the numbered Final Fantasy games, from I to XIII. There are 70 musical numbers across the franchise's 25 year legacy, and more will be coming as DLC via the Nintendo Network.

Kingdom Hearts 3D [Dream Drop Distance] is the next game to hit Nintendo's handheld. Available on July 31st, Dream Drop Distance continues the story from Re:coded, and promises to set up the events of Kingdom Hearts 3. Both Sora and Riku are playable in this installment--a refreshing change of pace from many of the recent spin-offs in the franchise.

It baffles me that we've gone almost an entire generation of console hardware without getting Kingdom Hearts 3.

I hate how I didn't get a chance to play KH2 but I can't now because of the lack of BC on the PS3. Hopefully there's an HD re-release of 1 & 2 before KH3 comes out
