It's been almost four years coming, but the expansion to Sins of a Solar Empire finally has a release date. Mark your calendar for June 12, and you can pre-order the Rebellion expansion now through the GameFly, Stardock Store, Steam and Impulse.

If you have the first game from Stardock.com, you can get a discount off the $39.99 price. And pre-ordering from any of the sites will get you access to the second beta, which launched on April 4. The new Advent race will be accessible in this beta, as will single-player and multiplayer action. The Sins of a Solar Empire forums have plenty of info on the beta, including system requirements and beta features.

Check out the video below for the beta action.

Holy shit it's been four years? I'm in the beta and from my limited playtime (tutorial :) there doesn't seem to be any huge changes. New graphics, units, balancing and better multiplayer... all good and all worthy of an expansion. Weird it took them four years though.

      Game is still bad ass.

They have had two expansions since the first game. This is just the latest in their evolution.

I'm still sad they haven't made it to where your ships move while firing. I really hate that they just sit there and fire. I think it would make the battles a lot more epic of ships were flying around through the battle while fighting.

this kinda bugs me too... i can usually get my ships to fire while moving if they are already targetting and i simply move my ships to keep in range of something running away. It's still always annoying when they flat-out stop whenever i give an attack order.

ships could definitely do a better job at chasing on their own.
