Where Is V5-6000?
by Steve Gibson, Jun 21, 2000 3:50am PDTYou guys might remember a while ago that 3dfx was telling folks the Voodoo5-6000 would be shipping in the middle of June. Well its that time of the month right now and not a peep from 3dfx. Also, I got 2 seperate emails from guys who work at PC stores telling me that they got notices taking the V5-6000 off the incoming list which it was slated to arrive quite soon.

from their CEO: " Turning a company around takes time, patience and effort. Although it will not happen overnight, I am confident that we have the knowledge, team and competence to move 3dfx forward. Clearly we are on the right path."
obviously worded from someone NOT in first place.

Nvidia's stock sits at $172 a share,
and 3dfx's stock sits at $8 a share.
Woo-hoo.
(Just go back about six months and compare the tale of their stock
with that of Nvidia's..)
They're desperate..
And their video cards aren't that great.
:)
$600..? I could see spending $600 when 3D cards had any longevity..
But today they last six months at the top of the pile, if that.
My GeForce is no longer king of the hill.
I spent $250 and I'm kinda miffed. If I had spent $600 I'd bang my head against a wall.
I guess I'll just have to suffer with the V5-5500 for a while longer...
hehe
