WWE '12 rocks in Wrestlemania edition

Hot on the heels of Wrestlemania XXVIII, THQ unveils an updated installment of WWE '12.

Pay-per-viewers who watched Wrestlemania XXVIII in Miami last night know who got 'boots to asses' (I won;t spoil it for those who want to tune in to watch WWE and Raw this week). But to capitalize on the popularity of that wrestling free-for-all, THQ has announced WWE '12 Wrestlemania Edition.

The game features 15 new wrestlers and four alternate outfits. Among the new group of grapplers is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (gamers may remember him from his role in the movie DOOM), wrestlers-turned-announcers Jerry "The King" Lawler, Michael Cole and Jim "JR" Ross, shrill and vocal manager Vickie Guerrero, and "Macho Man" Randy Savage, who was tragically killed last May in a car accident.

The game, in the line of a Game of the Year or Gold edition, is in development for PS3 and Xbox 360 and will include all of the DLC released to date. It is expected to be released in May of this year in Europe. We've reached out to THQ to find about the U.S wrestling fans and we'll update when we get an answer. The original release in November was ho-hum, so hopefully the new wrestlers can add as much life as Wrestlemania did last night, there may be hope ...

What Macho Man is dead?! Damn. How did I miss that?

So no hope for that second rap album then. What a shame.

How can anyone dislike Johnny Five Stars?

Any time Laryngitis shows up lately, his faithful dog boy David Otunga is next to him wearing his sweater vest and carrying an insulated metal cup of steroids ... er ... coffee, or whatever.

Am I the only one who sees CM Punk as a palette swap of Shawn Michaels? Their resemblance is uncanny

I so thought Ryder was going to win it for Long until that stupid girl got in the ring. #sawthatcomingamileaway

Although I must admit that Teddy Long looked like he was deliberately building a team that was destined to lose.

I like that this package happened, I'll probably pick this up once I get my shelf cleared. I've heard good things about this revamped game.

I thought Santino was going to win it for them just as the comic relief. He beat the team of Jack Swagger and Dolf Ziegler last night. That was fun.

I actually thought so, too. I watched Elimination Chamber at a sports bar, and when the SmackDown Chamber match came down to Santino and Bryan, my bar exploded into a cacophony just as loud as the live crowd's. It was nuts.

They need to do another WWE All Stars. That game is so fun. A few tweaks with some new modes (royal rumble), and it would probably be the best arcade wrestling game of all time.
