You all supported Double Fine's Kickstarter adventure to smashing success, kicking off a flurry of other Kickstarter game projects like the recent Takedown. So with those projects out of the way, how do you feel about funding a sad, desperate Lothario who may be well past his prime?

The Make Leisure Suit Larry come again project (har!) is underway and up to roughly $13,000 so far. It's aiming for $500,000 by May 2, 12:30 PM PDT. The goal: to make a 25th Anniversary edition of Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards, complete with mobile support, modern interface, high-res graphics, fully-voiced characters, and new writing from Al Lowe. The team has already secured the license, and now needs the funding.

In true Leisure Suit Larry fashion, the team is also counting a few eggs before they're babies, citing ideas for going above and beyond the funding amount. If they hit above $500,000, the team says it could localize the voice-overs to different languages, aim the game for more platforms, and have an orchestrated soundtrack.

"the team is also counting a few eggs before they're babies"
Does anyone else find that a bit.....odd? Oh, and LSL really just needs to go away.

Hmmmmmmmm.... I don't think the fans were clamoring for a(nother) remake of this one. Might be one kickstarter too many.

Do we really need another LSL game? Really? I think that's another character that has out-lived its prime.

I hope it makes its goal. It worked be cool to see Al Lowe and Josh Mandel work on another adventure game.

For that much money I would prefer a whole new LSL adventure... not another remake, even if it does include some "new writing". I don't want to go through the same "puzzles" for a third time.

I predict this KSr will not reach its goal.

Now bring on a new Roger Wilco adventure! C'mon Two Guys! KSr is waiting ;P

or Josh... your SQ7 project failed because you could not obtain the SQ rights and so got the C&D Hammer. Surely you could get enough funds through KSr to obtain these rights?

If that shitty Takedown kickstarter can reach its goal, this can too. Plus this also gives me hope that companies can get the rights back to other franchises like Gabriel Knight or Quest for Glory.

          Good points... we'll see.

Looking at it as a stepping stone to possibly revisit other franchises, like SPACE QUEST! ahem, as you suggest... well, then I do hope they succeed. :)

LSL is not that great a series. Let it rest.

I find this part of their pledge confusing:

"We'll be making Leisure Suit Larry 1-7 and keeping you guys informed every step of the way. If this game is successful then we can bring you guys the rest of the Leisure Suit Larry games (and maybe even Leisure Suit Larry 4: The Case Of The Missing Floppies)! "

Huh? Are we just getting 1 or 1-7... do you mean you would like to make 1-7 if 1 does well?

I think they mean, if this project gets funded - they are ready and willing to remake the rest and make 4.

Well that's what I gathered... just bad wording. I had to point it out. My obsessive self would never have left those words up, if I was the one typing it. ;P

Actually they should JUST make 4, that would be worth seeing

I love LSL series, but I've beat the first one too many times for me to get excited about a straight remake. I want a new Phreddy Pharkas.

They're talking about mobile, XBLA and PSN support. So does that mean they will censor it to better fit the markets? The App store will probably ban it the second Larry admits to having male genitalia.

I also wouldn't be opposed to a reimagining of the Sorcerer's Appliance series, which I always felt was a tad more fun than Larry.

I meant to say the Spellcasting series, of which Sorcerer's Appliance was one chapter.
