Mass Effect 3 multiplayer weekend rewards promotions

Mass Effect 3 is hosting another multiplayer bonus weekend, this time giving out prizes for promoting two characters individually, and the community promoting 150,000 characters collectively.

BioWare has two successful Mass Effect 3 multiplayer weekends under its belt, so why not go for a third? This time the game plans to reward you for promoting your multiplayer characters, along with a collective reward if enough players promote theirs during the period, in an event dubbed "Operation Raptor."

Between 5 p.m. PST on Friday, March 30, and 5 a.m. PST on Monday, April 2, promote two of your characters for a Commendation Pack. If the community collectively promotes 150,000 multiplayer characters, everyone will get a Victory Pack. The game will also be giving out 10 percent bonus XP to help you along in that goal, so it's being called a "Bounty" weekend. The prize names are the same as the first challenge weekend, so the prize will probably be a randomly selected N7 weapon.

BioWare is announcing the weekend a little early, so if you want to get a head start on preparing two characters for level 20, you can. Plus, it comes just after last weekend's 25 percent XP bonus, so as long as you didn't promote those characters, that might help. Keep in mind that promotions reset you back to zero, so if you've been keeping someone honed for a run at a Gold challenge you'll be sacrificing them for the cause.

The announcement notes that this only goes for the PC and Xbox 360 versions. "We are continuing to work with Sony to enable these types of Operations on the PlayStation 3 platform," the company states. "We appreciate your patience, and we expect an update later this week regarding Operation Raptor and the PlayStation 3."

I have to say, these weekend events are really keeping the desire to keep playing the multiplayer up.

My friends and I are having a good time with it. I just love co-op defence game types.

The multiplayer needs more campaign and less arcade action. Thinking more along the lines of a specifically written campaign for multiplayer. The resistance led by anderson basically screams for something like this.

I'm finished with it after hitting 20 with one character. Tiny levels, no meaty objectives, crappy item system, average combat.. would much rather play something more fleshed out than this tacked on mode.

Sounds like your average everyday console game. It will sell millions and the kids will ask for seconds.

I agree that it's just a tiny side feature to the game, but I think its fun. I happen to like ME3 combat quite a bit though, so it's far above "average" for me.

For reference, I play SP only on Insanity for every ME game and I enjoy Gold difficulty the most for MP as well -- it's much harder than any encounter you find in SP, when you have waves that spawn 6+ Banshees/Primes/Atlases.

Also, I think it's worth playing some of the other character races to get some different flavors you can't normally have in SP. Playing Krogan Sentinel is pretty fun as a full out melee setup, I hardly ever fire a shot or shoot a power. During Blood Rage, I can 1 hit kill full health Centurions on Silver, 3 hits to kill a Ravager on Silver, etc.

These events would have been a pretty great way to maintain a sense of connection to the ME universe after finishing the game. Shame they severed that connection at the end of ME3.

Is there a dedicated Xbox 360 ME3 multiplayer crowd? My gamertag is varsindarkin.

I'm itching to get my Asari Vanguard to level 20, I think she's level 18 or 19. Stasis and the Carnifex is so, so sweet.
