Some major cable providers not offering HBO Go for 360
Comcast, Time Warner Cable and Bright House not supporting Xbox 360 users access to HBO Go through their consoles.
Xbox Live launched three major apps today, but some subscribers are only able to access a few of the new offerings. While MLB.tv, HBO Go and Comcast Xfinity are now available, some folks are having issues getting to HBO Go.
Angry posts on Major Nelson's blog complain that Comcast, Time Warner and Bright House cable companies are blocking access to HBO Go. One poster said that their chat with a Time Warner representative revealed the app should be available "in the next few months." Microsoft's official site confirmed that the three cable companies were not on the list of HBO Go providers.
Users who have Xfinity will be able to access HBO content through the Xfinity app, but the HBO Go app apparently offers a wider selection of shows, according to a few posters.
An HBO representative urged subscribers to push the three cable providers to carry the app. "It is HBO's ongoing goal to provide our acclaimed programming to subscribers whenever and wherever they want it," the rep told Game Informer. "We believe the launch of HBO GO on Xbox 360 is a huge step in accomplishing that and we are hopeful that all of our distributors will chose to support the service on the Xbox platform. We encourage our subscribers at non-participating television providers to reach out to their provider and request that they add support for HBO GO on Xbox 360."
For these apps to work, you must already be an Xbox Gold subscriber, as well as a subscriber to Comcast, HBO and MLB.tv. In addition, to access Xfinity, you must have Comcast cable and internet.

This is so stupidly short sighted by the content providers. Comcast made a deal allowing me to use HBO Go on my phone and my PC, but not my Xbox? Do they want people to move to Dish where it's available? Do they want people to get the HBO content illegally?
And no, the Xfinity app isn't a substitute. It doesn'tt have near the catalog of old episodes of the HBO shows. However, if you start a show in the Xfinity app under the HBO channel, it has an HBO Go pre-roll.
I'm paying Comcast way to much money for this kind of limitation.
If HBO would just wise up and decide to sell their service to me directly, I could avoid Comcast's stupidity. But HBO is trying to think short term stupid as well.
Old media still hasn't learned from what happened to the music industry. Doomed to repeat if they don't wise up.-
I imagine TWC would prefer people to use their shitty on-demand service instead of chewing up broadband bandwidth.

To Khakimon, if your are looking at trying to get cable for $10, like the services you mentioned, that will never happen. I look at cable the same as those services, in the sense its a service. Now with xfinity on my 360 i can get rid of all my cable boxes/dvrs. Which will save me the monthly service costs of nearly $30. So my cable bill just went from $100 to $70. I'll take a $30 savings any day.

Oh wait, you have customers who want to pay you instead of almost just as easily getting the same content for free and yet you won't let them pay you? Brilliant, I wonder what could possibly go wrong.

So if I am reading correctly, the complainers here want to pay less now that there cable service can be streamed through their Xbox? Ok well that isn't going to happen so move along. I get all the content that I want on this new Xbox app. I have a full Comcast package, along with a set top box and 360 at 3 tvs in my house. I already have a family gold plan so my kids can watch Netflix in the family room. Added this app and gave the remote to my 9 year old and she has no issues finding everything she wants. I called Comcast and will be returning my 3 cable boxes tomorrow and dropping my DVR and HD service, all in all I'll be saving $50 per month. I may use that savings to by the standard looking remotes for a couple of my Xboxes.
