Battlefield 3 is rolling out a massive game update, set to hit the PlayStation 3 on March 27. The PC and Xbox 360 versions will follow sometime soon after. While the patch packs loads of tweaks for weapons and vehicles in general, some of the biggest changes come to the consoles.

The patch notes mention the "Rent a Server" functionality coming to both consoles, with more details to come next week. PlayStation 3 players will also get the option to turn off anti-aliasing to reduce input lag. The PC version is getting several fixes to server functionality as well.

General gameplay fixes include eliminated shortfall damage, reduced black screen fade time upon spawn, several vaulting issues, and the ability to get up faster from Prone, and many others. These come alongside a ton of balancing changes for weapons, vehicles, gadgets, maps, and equipment. Check out the full patch list for all of the details.

I'm playing on PC, it took me about five seconds to find a game last I tried (today a few hours ago). I was using the server browser though.

I've been enjoying the smaller rush games lately, sub 30 people, it's really kind of fun, more fun than I thought it would be.

I don't though I will come back to see how the new balance is in the new patch. Anyway there are 50-100k people playing it on ps3 and 360 depending on time of day. PC seems to go lower though, around where BC2 was after a year but the numbers will improve if the newer maps they release aren't crap like most of the original BF3 maps.

PS3 users have the earlier access like XBOX gets the MW3 stuff first....

Still wish I could mess with my kit offline instead of during a match. Unless there is some secret way I have missed.

its pretty fucking retarded how you are forced to use battlelog for this game and yet you cannot
change settings like controls or adjust your kit unless you get on the game itself.

Homefront had this awesome thing for multiplayer. It was an open map you could load where you could access all the weapons and vehicles in the game for the sole purpose of practicing and checking them out. This would be AWESOME, since I am SHIT at flying and need tons of practice, something I will never do in the middle of a multiplayer game.

I dig the idea, but its not difficult to find an empty BF3 server to do the same thing.

Check out Realmware BF3 editor, someone on the shack recommended it once before. There will supposedly be support for kit loadouts in future releases. Fixes commo rose, jet brake and other things as well.

PS3 owners will still be downloading this patch by the time the PC & 360 get the option. I love my PS3 bit damn, patching games a system updates are slow compared to its competitors. Anyway, enough with my rant, glad to be getting the fixes.

when i booted Resistance 3 for the first time it downloaded an 800 meg patch, much slower than it should for whatever reason... then several more patches, at least one also huge.. took like an hour which is great because the ps3 is incapable of doing any of this in the background.

for as cheap as memory is these days I find it absurd that a console doesnt have a gig or more.

About damn time. Been waiting for this patch! Rent-a-Server for consoles hmm? So instead of fixing the lobby/squad system on consoles where you can only get you and 3 friends on 1 server they want you all to pay more.... yah, thanks a fucking lot Dice/EA
