As expected, the Ratchet & Clank series is getting an HD re-release on PS3. The Ratchet & Clank Collection will include the original PS2 game, Going Commando, and Up Your Arsenal. Unlike most other remasters, this one will actually include the online multiplayer mode initially offered in Up Your Arsenal--something that makes Insomniac's James Stevenson quite happy because "not enough people played it the first time."

Each game in the collection will run in full 1080p at 60 frames per second. There will also be stereoscopic 3D support at 720p. The Collection will be available on PS3 in the fall--quite a ways after the May release announced for Europe. The reasoning behind the delay is that Insomniac has "something very special planned for our North American fans."

Perhaps North America will receive an additional game in the collection? (In Europe, the HD re-release specifically refers to the games as a "trilogy.") We wouldn't be surprised if Ratchet & Clank: Deadlocked also gets added to the collection.
