Escape Plan is Vita's top download

Uncharted: Golden Abyss was the top-selling Vita game at retail last month, when the system debuted in the States. But, with Vita games all available on PlayStation Network as well, was Uncharted able to repeat that feat on the PlayStation Store?

It appears not. Perhaps the $45 price tag scared gamers away from the digital version. Maybe the sizable 4GB download hindered its sales (given the cost of memory cards)? Regardless, the top-selling Vita game in February was the black and white puzzle game, Escape Plan.

The top 10 PSN sales chart shows where Escape Plan landed:

  • 1. The Simpsons Arcade Game (PS3)
  • 2. Gotham City Imposters (PS3)
  • 3. The House of the Dead 3 (PS3)
  • 4. Escape Plan (Vita)
  • 5. Shank 2 (PS3)
  • 6. NFL Blitz (PS3)
  • 7. Super Stardust Delta (Vita)
  • 8. Angry Birds (PS3/PSP)
  • 9. Super Stardust Delta: Interstellar Bundle (Vita)
  • 10. Grand Theft Auto IV: The Complete Edition (PS3)

Unfortunately for the Vita, Super Stardust Delta was the only other handheld game that managed to crack the top 10. Given the PS3's significantly larger install base, it shouldn't be too surprising that PS3 games--like the free for PlayStation Plus Simpsons Arcade game--would dominate the list. Perhaps Sony's new handheld will make a more prominent showing next month?

I'm pretty sure that people bought Angry Birds so they could play it on their Vita... so you could count tha as another Vita game on the list.

Ahh so you are right... I could have sworn I saw it on the mini list when I browsed the store on my Vita.. but I guess I was remembering it on the PS3 only.

Sad that it's not Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack.

      PixelJunk Katamari. Everyone buy it.

      Plus, it's cheap.

          What?
Left and right move you left and right
          x to jump
l and r for magnetism (once you get it)

How is that gimmicky? It's a platformer.

If you like PixelJunk's style, classic platformers, and the katamari "theme" of eating smaller things to become bigger and eat bigger things, spend the $8. One of the most fun games I've bought in ages.

I didn't really think much about the single account deal, until it dawned on me that I use it often on my PS3.
      USA, EU and JP account.

There are some really cool apps and games on the Japanese PSN for Vita.

Not exactly cost effective, but I'm pretty sure you can use other accounts with different memory cards.

Super Stardust Delta is on the list twice. I wonder if you add the base game sales and the bundle with the DLC if it wouldn't actually be the bestselling Vita game on PSN.

I wish I had decided against it.

It's not bad. It's not great, either.
For less money, the Slime game is more fun, SSDD is more fun, and skipping it almost covers the cost of Tactics Ogre.
