Mass Effect 3 experiencing face importing glitch

Some Mass Effect 3 players are having trouble importing their custom Shepard faces into Mass Effect 3. EA is aware of the problem and, for now, suggests remaking your face if you run into the issue.

Mass Effect 3 is the culmination of the series in which all your progress and personalization comes together. But one vital element of making the experience tailored, your custom Shepard face, isn't working for some players.

Several users are noting the problem on the BioWare forums (via Kotaku). The problem hasn't been formally diagnosed, but it seems to be hitting people who imported from ME1 to ME2 and now into the third game. It doesn't seem to be affecting all custom face users, though, so the exact circumstances are still a mystery.

An EA help file suggests remaking the face if you run into problems, while other forum-goers have come up with tricky solutions. Producer Michael Gamble has tweeted that he will pass on more info as he receives it.

Remaking your face works as a solution, but it isn't the most convenient. If you want to avoid that particular hassle, and you're running into the error, you may just need to watch for a patch. In the meantime, report the problem to EA as more data will help them pinpoint it.

A week or two ago I dug out ME1 and ME2, took some screenshots and used some tools to find a face code that appeared to import into the ME3 demo correctly just in case this sort of thing happened.

Yeah that's mostly why I was worried. That and my imported femshep's hair had some minor clipping issues in ME2.

I know this is gonna sound weird, but if I recreate my old Shep and it doesn't look right in game, I will probably stop playing and wait for a patch. I feel like it wouldn't be the same.

I have been dying to play this, so if need be I'm pretty confident I can recreate my Shepherd.

Fixing this before release would've cost valuable DLC creating time.

Yep, would pretty much suck to not have the Shep you've lived with through ME1 and 2. Waiting.

My ME2 Shepard looked a little wonky anyway, so I was glad to have the chance to give him a little touch up.

Still, it's hard to see how they didn't run into this issue in-house.
