Weekend Confirmed 102 - SSX, Binary Domain, Vita
by Garnett Lee, Mar 03, 2012 12:00am PSTGDC looms on the horizon next week but there's no quiet before the storm. Christian Spicer and James Stevenson join Jeff and Garnett for a show stacked with great games. SSX, Binary Domain, and Syndicate co-op lead the pack, and there's still plenty more to talk about with the PlayStation Vita. The conversations also cover some of your games that drive you right to the brink but keep you coming back for more and hoped-for inclusions in the rumored to be announced SimCity 5. And that's just some of the talk that races by along the way before Finishing Moves caps it all off.

The increase in level of detail is insane, and it seems like 343 is tackling all the complaints against Reach head-on, while still trying to push the evolutions that game brought forward. Here are some details that were discussed on gamefanmag.com:
Campaign:
-The story will be the most cinematic Halo experience to date, that will set the stage for the next decade of the franchise.
-Cortana will play a huge part in the story.
-Master Chief’s armor design has been upgraded to provide the functionality needed to convey his power.
-Story will be darker and more sophisticated than past games.
Multiplayer
-Story wraps around the multiplayer experience for the first time in the franchise.
- Beyond the typical cosmetic customization options, players will be able to augment their Spartan IV’s abilities and weapon loadouts, altering their gameplay styles for the first time.
- A lot of focus has gone into giving players a better sense of weight.
The one issue I have is the adjustment of armor and weapon loadouts. Halo has always been about map control and the power-struggles over weapon spawns. Keep that CoD loadout shit out of my Halo!
Hopefully 343 realizes the balancing act they're going to have to do if they want to keep the defining characteristics of Halo's gameplay in place. I'll wait until they explain the system in full before I make any judgements though.
