Facebook for Vita fixed, now available to download

One week later, Sony has finally restored access to Facebook on its new handheld.

Embarrassingly, Sony launched Vita with a broken Facebook app. While Sony blamed last-minute changes to the Facebook API, it had to remove the downloadable app from the PlayStation Store. One week later, Sony has finally restored access to the social network on its new handheld.

Those that managed to download the app before its removal from the Store will discover the app works without a title update--an unexpected twist for those accustomed to Sony's frequent update process. The custom UI created for the Vita looks great. However, it is a far more sluggish experience than Twitter on Vita. Oddly, many links posted in my News Feed were inaccessible, as well.

In addition to Facebook, Vita currently features Flickr, Foursquare, and Twitter apps. Skype will be available on Vita later as well.
