Now that the cat has cut its way out of the proverbial bag (with wrist-blades, no doubt), we know for certain that Assassin's Creed 3 will take place during the American Revolution. That's raised its fair share of questions, most of them revolving around how this new assassin will traverse his way around the cities before many big cities exist. The answer might lie in a batch of screenshots that have leaked today. The shots popped up on Reddit (via Joystiq). One of the screens clearly shows a bustling Colonial city that we would guess is Philadelphia or Boston. Plus, one intriguing shot (above) seems to confirm that the game will use trees as the parkour du jour, bringing a twist on the stealth aspect of the game. More official details are expected soon. In the meantime, check out the screens.

Seeing as the templars effectively rule in the "present", it would have been interesting to paint the founding fathers as them, perhaps tying in all the Stonemasons stuff played out in the media!

But I know that any media must have the English playing the bad guys!

it's gonna be fun. we know the religious control wanted to expand... so our crew has to follow them to the new world!

did a piece of eden go over with templars? or with assassins? or both ?!?!!?

should be intriguing. I see this as when humans really start getting conniving, and less of the "other influence" :D

It stopped fitting in after the first one but I guess its become a staple of the game. I don't know why but I am just not excited about this game. I feel bad about it especially since I loved AC2.

I can't believe how unbelievably bad and forced the Assassin costume looks in 1800's America, total lack of immersion. They haven't adapted the look one bit to make it gel better with colonial clothing. They should've at least given him big boots and a leather mouth/neck cover.

Love the look and hope its a much needed new engine.

But then I don't like the setting, low wondering buildings... hardly AC vista/climbing material.

Was hoping for something more along the lines of AC1 architecture.
