Fans have had a lot of questions about Max Payne's return to gaming. Can Rockstar do it without Remedy at the helm? Why is Max bald? Why is he in Brazil? And is it still noir?

While Rockstar has been slowly answering these questions, there's one question that have gone overlooked: what kind of mess did Max get himself in this time?

The "second official trailer" for Max Payne 3 sets up the story, which begins with the kidnapping of Rodrigo Branco's trophy wife, Fabiana, while under Max's protection. "As Max fights to uncover the truth behind the kidnapping, he is pulled deeper into a web of violence and deception with little hope of escape as street gangs, paramilitary forces and elite police units fight for power and influence over the streets of São Paulo, Brazil," Rockstar's official PR describes.

Max Payne 3 will arrive on Xbox 360 and PS3 on May 15, with a PC release to follow shortly afterwards.

looks really good, bet he's going undercover or something. that's why he shaved his head, grow a bread and dresses like a thug. got say don't like the new look, kind of remind me of bruce willis in Die Hard, but with a lot less hair.

Haha, you didn't play the first two games..? He went undercover in both of them too, no need to make him look like a middle-aged couch-sleeper for that to work out.

      Story looks good!

I think I will miss those comic book storytelling styles though, they were cool.

The graphics in this trailer looks a bit cartoony compared to other trailers and screenshots though?

I think it was confirmed at some point that they're doing a version of comic strips between chapters. Max Payne 2 was a mix between real-time cutscenes and the comic stuff, so it's not hard to believe 3 will do the same.

What's the bet the trophy wife is somehow behind her own kidnapping?

Interesting. I just watched the original Man On Fire (Scott Glenn, Joe Pesci, Danny Aiello) Wednesday.

Yes, how many more "Man On Fire" references can they cram in there? Will Payne shove explosives up a corrupt cop's ass during a carhood interrogation?

Sure, looks cool. But seems a little too serius, i mean where's the dumb thugs with a hitch pitch voice talkin' random stupid things? That was a key ingredient in the original max games!!
