Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 free multiplayer weekend on PC

Though Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has sold untold squillions of copies, evidently a few of us haven't bought it yet. Activision is opening up the shooter's multiplayer portion for everyone to play for free on PC through Steam this weekend, hoping you'll get hooked and splash out on the full game once it's over.
The free weekend will begin at 10am Pacific on Thursday, then run until 1pm on Sunday. If you have the Steam client installed, you can pre-load the multiplayer client by clicking this thing here with the words. It's a 13.75GB download, so you'll want to get that started early.
Activision has run a number of free Call of Duty weekends on PC since switching the series switched to Steamworks for DRM with Modern Warfare 2 in 2009. Steam's fancy box of tricks lets publishers easily open up games--or parts of them--for a period then restrict it to paying customers again afterwards.
Of course, you can play in the free weekend even if you have no intention of buying Modern Warfare 3 at all. Visit some exotic locations, take in the sights, conserve with the locals, and smell the napalm.

It's the first game in the franchise that I've really enjoyed for a few years. Easily the best since the first MW game and a lot of you on here aren't even giving it the time of day. Even when the Developers are letting you play the whole thing for free over the weekend! Not sure of the price on Steam, but IF it ever falls into a sale, the single player portion is well worth it.

If they did add akimbo penalties it's hardly noticeable in-game =\
Akimbo smg's still rape the shit out of everything that isn't long range.
Personally I like the maps a lot more than the other MW games I've played (which is really only Black Ops and maybe 1 hour of MW1) because there is far less hiding in corners being idiots.-
I agree. akimbo is still game breaking while running, there shouldn't even be a reticle and shit should be like 25% hit chance. regarding maps, that's still a problem. all of MW3 plays like metro conquest of BF3, a.k.a. the meatgrinder. you run around like an idiot spraying your akimbo shit, jumping and diving. I mean MW3 is just comical at this point. you can spawn and be within a grenade throw from the enemy. that is fucking DUMB. why don't they just put everyone in a square room like TF2 achievement maps and just have everyone massacre everyone else. no camping! all action! hooray!
as as I'm noticing, when world of tanks has more players online than MW3, the tides are turning. gamers are speaking, let's hope the devs are listening.
