Assassin's Creed 3 coming October 30

Assassin's Creed 3 has been announced and dated.

Ubisoft has made no secret that Assassin's Creed will be an annualized franchise. This year's iteration of the game is supposed to mark the end of Desmond's story, due to a 2012 apocalypse predicted within the franchise lore.

"In Assassin's Creed we set up a timeline with this whole end of the world plot of December 2012," Ubisoft's Alexandre Amacio explained. "That's fast approaching, and the story we have to tell, we obviously need to do it before we arrive at that point."

Fans have been looking for clues on where the next Assassin's Creed game may take place. Rumors suggest the American Revolution.

However, all will be revealed in the not-too-distant future. According to Kotaku, Ubisoft has announced an October 30th release date for this year's release. "Assassin's Creed 3 is the true next generation of both the Assassin's Creed brand and interactive entertainment/storytelling in general," Joystiq caught Yves Guillemot saying.

A first look at how Desmond's narrative will wrap up is likely to come in Assassin's Creed Revelations DLC, leaked this morning.

As long as it's more polished than Revelations. Game was still fun, but it definitely suffered due to the schedule.

Yeah, agreed. I was so psyched for Revelations, that I barely cared that Skyward Sword was coming out 5 days later.

As it turned out, I got home exhausted after a 5 hour drive, decided to play some SS to unwind, and ended up staying awake for a total of 40 hours because I got hooked.

Can't say the same for Revelations, unfortunately.

I couldn't get over how Desmond and Ezio looked like completely different people. Ezio was older sure but he looked like someone else.

yeh, it was justifiable in the case of Ezio who has aged, but it's been like, five minutes for Ezio.

Well, Revelations started only a few years after Ezio tossed Cesare off the wall. Not long enough to justify...whatever the hell he turned into.

I always thought the whole thing where Altair, Desmond, and Ezio looked exactly the same was fucking dumb.
Perhaps this is preparation for a female protagonist in AC3

I thought Revelations was hell of polished. Definitely more so than Brotherhood.

I couldn't disagree more. In all sorts of ways from the extraneous tower defense minigame to just general glitchiness Revelations really showed its rushed schedule.

Bombs also added nothing to the game because combat was still entirely too easy. The story was the worst aspect about the game though. That and the lack of really indepth exploration dungeons.

It felt polished in some areas, and rougher than single-ply toilet paper in others.
Don't know if this falls under 'polish' or not, but goddamn, sometimes I absolutely hated navigating Constantinople due to HUGE WALLS in Galata and other places.
Of course, Rome's damned hills were even worse. Probably why I got sick of Rome.

AC2 was my favorite by far. It's still been good, but downhill from there. The varied locations, sweep of the story etc. It was a little poignant for me each time a few years passed and he was somewhere else

After the POS that Revelation was im going to hesitate to get this. I loved AC2, and Brotherhood, but AC Rev was junk. No dungeon levels. I loved those from AC2 and Brotherhood. Hell I had Assassin Armour by the 3rd chapter. The story was too short, the chapters seemed to be 1 or 2 missions it that was it. Bombs added nothing to the game. I didnt get deep into this as I did for Ac2 and Brotherhood. I bought Rev on release and played 2 hours and said meh and didnt touch it till 2 weeks ago when I was bored and didnt have anything else to do. Ending was cool but just didnt have the same feeling Brotherhood or AC2 did.

it suffered from some scope creep of having to add stuff that didn't fit. and I guess people thought the timed dungeons were too hard or something?

I think if they hone it back down to AC2 and focus on combat it will be GREAT. less bombs, less tower defense. get back to smooth silky hiding among courtesans and shanking people with fast acting poisons.

BUT, we don't know what time period it will be. who knows, maybe AC3 will have railguns.

Im not to fond of the rail guns I like the old feeling the game has. I wouldnt mind AC1 time period ( dark ages), AC2 dungons, AC2/ Bro story and no god dam tower defense. I like sending my assassins on missions. I would also like more than 1 city. Where were my horses!

They better not make AC3 bad. This pushing a game out every year like COD and thoses are getting old fast. I dont mind a game every year, but make it worth my money. AC rev was the first AC I didnt feel I got my moneys worth out of. Yes the SP was 15-20 hours long but the Mp is just boring.

I get doing the whole Ezio trilogy inside a trilogy with yearly releases and
I love AC, it knew how to put it's hooks in me but I gotta say I've only been able to handle throwing in a few minutes of playtime here and there with Revelations before I get bored. I guess I'm starting to feel a little burnt out with AC....

It might have had 3 years in development unlike the yearly Ezio games but releasing it one year after Revelations is a mistake, so I guess I'll just pick it up in 2013 when it's dirt cheap.

Usually I'd be a more excited but this news makes me sigh.
