This Valentine's Day, prove to your sweetheart that you're not a callous monster by saving the entire dang galaxy in the Mass Effect 3 demo. Here's a friendly reminder it launches today with a taste of single-player from BioWare's sci-fi RPG, with a multiplayer bit coming later in the week.

The Xbox 360 demo is already available through the Xbox Live Marketplace. The PC demo should hit Origin at around 10am Pacific, while the PlayStation 3 demo is due around 4pm, according to BioWare community coordinator Chris Priestly.

As previously explained, the single-player portion is two missions, including the opening Reaper attack on Earth. Then, on Friday, the multiplayer will unlock with two maps. If you have redeemed a Battlefield 3 online pass, though, you can play the multiplayer from today. Xbox Live Silver members, fear not, the demo will include a smidgen of Gold so you can try the multiplayer.

Mass Effect 3 arrives for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 on March 6, developed by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts.

Hello, my name is paper clip and I detected a typo:

      Just played it:

AMAZING. They sure learned their lesson from that Dragon Age 2 demo. It's insane how well this runs on my 5yr old iMac and it still looks better than half the "next-gen" games out there.

The FOV bothered my eyes. I'll have to make sure there's a fix for that before I pick it up.

HEY did anyone go through with an existing save game? did it make a difference?

I have this new RIG and my saves aren't on here... and one person in the demo definitely should not be there......

As far as I know, the demo doesn't allow you to import your save, they offer presets decisions to choose.

Is it possible to grab this from a non-Origin source?
