Dungeon Defenders PC DLC ruled out for PS3 and 360

Dungeon Defenders developer Trendy Entertainment announced today that the console versions of the game won't be receiving much of the PC downloadable content, due to patch restrictions and other priorities for the team.

The downloadable content that hit the PC version of Dungeon Defenders won't be coming to the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 versions, according to developer Trendy Entertainment. The company cites various reasons for the decision, like patch size limitations and stacking requirements.

"This is for a variety of technical and business reasons including patch size limitations and patch stacking requirements, as well as the massive restructuring of the current console game that would have to take place, the QA processes necessary to prepare those changes for submission, and the opportunity cost of pursuing other projects," the company said on its forums (via Eurogamer). They cite one example, in that the patch stacking on Xbox Live Arcade would force everyone who bought the game to download an very large set of updates whether they had the DLC or not.

That means that PC-only content (the Holiday DLC, New Heroes Pack, Barbarian, Assault Mission Pack, Nightmare Mode, Shops, etc) will stay that way. Console players will still get access to parts I-IV of the Quest for the Lost Eternia Shards pack, plus the associated weapons and pets. The team will also submit a console patch this month, which will include bug fixes and balancing changes, and maybe even a few weapons and pets. But again, Trendy feels hamstrung by low RAM limitations.

Yes. But in this case, this guys are inexperienced and they don't know how to do ti. Id bet the farm on it. They need to get some experience under their belts first then they can talk about limitations. Took them forever to program and release the core game. I remember I had this game pre-ordered almost a full year and a half (they returned my money in fact) and they still didn't know what they where doing.

        Maybe next time around.
