Kids that grew up with the wise "wax on, wax off" musings of Mr. Miyagi now have a reason to buy a Vita. The augmented reality fighting game, Reality Fighters, will include an unexpected guest character: Mr. Miyagi from the classic 1984 movie, The Karate Kid.

Miyagi will serve as your "in-game tutor," but gamers that persevere will be able to unlock him as a playable character.

The Sony team actually considered a number of other high-profile characters to serve Miyagi's role. "Before we decided on Mr. Miyagi, we shortlisted various characters such as Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, Jet Li and even Mike Myers," producer Mitsuo Hirakawa explained on the PlayStation.Blog. "It became clear that Mr. Miyagi ticked all the boxes for us in terms of a true master who has a humorous side."

"We needed someone who was a true fighting master who could easily take on the best fighters from around the world," Hirakawa continued. "We had to consider the tongue-in-cheek nature of the game; some of our fight styles include ballet and break dance, as well as some unusual weapons like a toilet plunger. We needed someone who was tough, but also had a softer, more humorous side."

Unfortunately, Noriyuki Morita, the actor that played Mr. Miyagi, passed away in 2005. Assuming his role is Jim Ward, an American voice actor that has previously worked on Call of Duty, Metal Gear Solid, Ratchet & Clank, and more. Given his range, he should have the chops to make the role work. If not, there are going to be a lot of angry 30-somethings he'll have to answer to.

Reality Fighters will be available on Vita in March.
