Official LEGO Minecraft sets in the works
by Jeff Mattas, Jan 24, 2012 4:15pm PSTBack in December, Minecraft developer Mojang Specifications began an initiative to drum up enough support to warrant the creation of official Minecraft LEGO sets. Today, LEGO Cuusoo--the entity responsible for hearing and assessing such requests--announced that LEGO Minecraft has been approved by the LEGO Review committee.
The proposal for LEGO Minecraft achieved the necessary 10,000 supporters, and was then evaluated by a "LEGO Jury" to determine the feasibility of the product before it was approved.
The images (above and below) are concept pieces put together by Michael Thomas (aka, suparMacho). Though they seem to present some ideas of what one might expect from an official Minecraft LEGO set, the official product is being developed.
The announcement on the LEGO Cuusoo blog states that LEGO is "now developing a concept that celebrates the best aspects of building with the LEGO system and in Minecraft." "We can't wait to show it to you-but it isn't ready just yet," the post states. "These things take time, so we appreciate your patience. More details are to come."
