Dead Space dev working on new online shooter

A Visceral Games job listing is seeking a lead multiplayer designer for work on a new online shooter franchise.

Visceral Games, makers of the Dead Space franchise, are apparently at work on a new online multiplayer shooter franchise. Details are scant, but Visceral says the property will serve as a "cornerstone for a new EA Games Studio."

The revelation comes from an EA job listing (via OXM) for a Lead Multiplayer Designer to help create a "thrilling online action shooter game." Architectural knowledge and experience making realistic world levels is a plus, so this may be a departure from the more fantastical sci-fi settings in the Dead Space series. Dead Space 2 tried its hand at multiplayer, to mixed results.

Rumors have circulated that the studio is working on a third Dead Space game, but this job entry claims it's for a "new franchise." Visceral has been a two-game studio, but it may still be a while before we hear more details about either one.

No more atmospheric single player, eh? Lame.

EA as publisher. Of course. I guess they're trying to force all their single player devs down this street.

going from a hardcore SP game to a hardcore MP game is a rough transition.
