Vita 3G plan tweaked, jumps from $25 to $30 a month
by Andrew Yoon, Jan 23, 2012 6:30am PSTThe 3G data plans for PlayStation Vita haven't been especially unique. AT&T's plans for the Vita have matched their plans for iPads and other tablets. The company recently tweaked its 3G data plans, and unsurprisingly, the Vita has been affected.
The lower-priced tier is unchanged. The $14.99 monthly plan will still offer 250MB of data.
However, the higher-pried tier has been made more expensive. Previously, AT&T offered a $25 plan that included 2GB of data. That option has been replaced with a $30 plan that offers 3GB of data. While the per-gigabyte cost is much lower, it means Vita users that planned on using 3G service will have to pony up an additional $5 a month to get connected.
While the Vita will offer a number of internet-connected apps, many of Vita's more demanding features--such as internet play and full game downloads--will require something a bit faster than 3G speeds. Potential Vita owners will have to think carefully before deciding which version to pick up at launch next month.
