Hudson to be fully absorbed into Konami on March 1st

Hudson will be absorbed into Konami Digital Entertainment on March 1, but the company may continue to use the Hudson brand for some games and services.

Japanese developer Hudson will officially be absorbed into Konami Digital Entertainment and cease to exist as its own entity on March 1, according to a notice issued by the company. Board members agreed to the shift in a meeting held on January 12. Konami plans to consolidate its social and mobile development at one location.

While the Japanese filing (via Andriasang) seems to suggest that Hudson is defunct, the brand may live on. An updated statement suggests that products and services will still be released under the Hudson name. From a consumer standpoint, we shouldn't notice much of a change.

This is the conclusion of reports that have been developing since this time last year. At one point a rumor circulated that all Hudson 3DS projects were canceled, which Konami promptly denied.

Good stuff keep them alive, so here is the question where the hell is Bonk: Brink of Extinction? It looked really rad I hope it will now be released.

I'd love to see a new Bonk game. With all the re-releases in recent years I'm surprised we never got a Bonk trilogy collection on the DS, maybe with the Air Zonk stuff as a bonus.

It makes me sad that it had to go this way. Lots of great stuff came from that studio but I guess it just couldn't do it on its own.
