S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 development continuing
by Alice O'Connor, Jan 12, 2012 6:00am PSTS.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 developer GSC Game World hinted in December that there was "cause for hope," following reports that the troubled Ukranian studio was shutting down. "Official news" was expected in January, and now it's confirmed: work on the survival shooter sequel will continue.
"The Stalker team is extremely happy! Why? Because we are continuing work on Stalker 2 after the holidays," reads a message posted yesterday by the official Facebook account.
Of course, exactly what has happened, and under what conditions work continues are unknown for now. One of the reported reasons behind GSC's potential closure was a failure to secure a console publisher for the game, supposedly too costly to develop only for PC. We should hear the full story in time, but for now: huzzah!
