Original Killzone returning to PS3

The original Killzone now lists PlayStation 3 as one of its platforms, which points to the game being re-released in some fashion.

The original Killzone is coming to the PlayStation 3. The Entertainment Software Rating Board website now includes Sony's current generation console as a platform for the 2004 PlayStation 2 title from Guerrilla Games, and Sony has confirmed it is coming. Unlike recently released HD updates to Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, the Killzone release will be digital version of the PS2 game. It is set to arrive on the PSN on January 24 for $9.99. As titles are re-released across multiple platforms both digitally and at retail, the ESRB requires a new rating be established for all games. GameInformer confirmed the release earlier today. According to Metacritic review averages, the original Killzone is the lowest rated game in the series. The game did include an entertaining multiplayer mode, though it doesn't look like this version will sport those features. Shacknews has contacted Sony to clarity.

I concur. Screenshots looked nice but in play it stunk. I'd rather they go waaaaay back and re-release Colony Wars with redone textures.

If they fix the framerate, I'd be interested.

I liked that KZ1 had alt fire weapons and was dissapointed that they decided to take a step
back for the sequels in this regard.

I would totally buy KZ1 again if they upgrade the graphics, fix the glitches, and keep the
online MP but with a better lobby interface.

My friend waited ages for this game to come out back in 2004 and when I saw it, I was more than a little disappointed. The framerate on this is probably the worst I've seen in a console game, utterly shocking
