BigBig Studios, developers of the upcoming Little Deviants for Vita, is being shut down by Sony. The studio, founded in 2001, developed a number of titles for Sony handhelds before its closure, including the Pursuit Force series on PSP and MotorStorm: Arctic Edge.

The UK-based team will be closed, in spite of being called "an important part of SCE Worldwide Studios" by a Sony official.

"It was felt that by focusing on other Studios that are currently working on exciting new projects, we would be in a stronger position to offer the best possible content for our consumers," a Sony representative told Develop.

Little Deviants, the studio's final game, will be included with the Vita: First Edition bundle.

That's kinda weird- to shut down the team that developed a launch title that ships with pre-orders of the system that hasn't even released yet in North America. That sure doesn't encourage me to pre-order.
