Mass Effect 3 single-player DLC fits within ME3 storyline

In addition to the promised multiplayer DLC for Mass Effect 3, BioWare's Casey Hudson has confirmed that single-player DLC is also in the works.

Mass Effect 3 may be the end of the trilogy, but don't expect BioWare to be done with Shepard's story when the game hits retail on March 6th. In addition to the promised multiplayer DLC, BioWare's Casey Hudson has confirmed that single-player DLC is also in the works.

"We're also planning some DLC on the single-player side, because it did really good in Mass Effect 2," Hudson explained. "The adventure-type DLC will happen in the time frame of Mass Effect 3, within your Mass Effect 3 storyline."

"There's a reason why we can add stories to what’s there," Hudson explained to Game Informer. "It's similar to how with Mass Effect 2, if you had a saved game from anywhere inside the game, you could go on to the DLC. We have a pretty neat concept for how it's going to work."

Mass Effect 2 featured a number of downloadable expansions that could be accessed any time during the campaign, including The Price of Revenge, Stolen Memory, and Overlord. However, Lair of the Shadow Broker could only be accessed after a certain point in the story, and Arrival was considered an epilogue to set up the events of Mass Effect 3.

Mass Effect 3 will be available on March 6th on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. The Collector's Edition will offer a bonus character and mission, which should give fans a taste of DLC to come.

Sounds like a 'wait until the dlc is released with the game in a bundle for cheaper next holiday season' purchase to me.

Or is it not going to be available via Steam?

I'm fine with single player DLC.

I am not fine with MP affecting single player.

Get your crappy multiplayer out of my singleplayer please!

hahahaha so much DLC talk. the single player campaign sounds like a total afterthought.

you know, the main deliverable from the first two titles.

reading the stories to dlc for ME and ME2 doesnt make it seem like you're missing out by not getting the DLC, but are nice additions if you want to play some more. I don't mind that so much.

There are a lot less sidemissions in ME 2 though, I felt.

Probably won't happen. They still haven't done a GOTY / bundle for ME2 and all of its DLC.

I was waiting for that because of the stupid Bioware points shit, and they are running out of time with ME3 coming up. Seems like they could get quite a few more sales, but it's looking less likely every day.

You'd think that if they were going to do that, it would've been done by this past Christmas. It'd be a real asshole move on their part to release it this near or after ME3.

Content must be free. Even if made after the game shipped, it must fulfill my entitled ego.

If the ME2 DLC was on Steam (or Origin, lol) I'd already have it, and if it was all bundled in a dragon age ultimate edition style rerelease I would have rebought the game. Fuck BioWare and fuck BioWare points.

If I could pirate the DLCs and send BioWare the exact amount those things actually cost, I'd actually consider doing that.

Welcome to another episode of Gamer Dissonance.

In this episode Hardcore Gamers yell and cry, "I won't buy your DLC! I won't buy your game! I will only buy games that are complete!" Smash cut to: Mass Effect 3 selling millions of unit, DLC for games continues to be profitable and growing, and hardcore posts to GAF, "Well I didn't like the ice level in Mass Effect 3! But I played it twice."

i have nothing against single player dlc (they were good in me2), but i think that multiplayer in me3 is totally useless. making a multiplayer dlc that affects single player is SHIT. you're forcing me to play that crap
