Journey trailer gets musical
by Alice O'Connor, Jan 06, 2012 6:30am PSTIt's been a while since we last heard from Journey, so it's nice that Flower dev thatgamecompany's explore 'em up has returned to tickle our stereocilia with a trailer giving a taste of its music. What accompaniment best suits a game about peacefully exploring an empty world? Strings, of course. Lots of lovely strings.
"The knee-jerk assumption is that something this big demands epic music on the most towering scale yet my gut led me in the opposite direction," composer Austin Wintory explained in an accompanying blog post. "While there are definitely some big moments, I would actually describe it as intimate overall." At least one game will give us a break from soaring choirs and triumphant trumpeting.
Journey is due to arrive exclusively on PlayStation Network this spring.
