Ready or not, The Tester Season 3 is happening. Sony's video game-themed reality series returns for a third year, this time with a whole lot more at stake. The winner of this season's competition won't be relegated into a QA position. Instead, the winner will get a job as a Production Associate at Santa Monica Studio, $5000, a 55" 3D TV, a PS3, and a Ford Focus Titanium.
With unemployment rates still high, winning this reality series may be the best chance for 20-something year old competitors to land a job in the gaming industry. Who will win the competition? Will it be J-Tight, egoraptor, Skyd1ddy, or Ashichan?

We're not sure how Sony has done it, but they may have found an even more ill-adjusted group of people for the third season. The Tester Season 3 will be available to download on the PlayStation Network on February 7th. Good luck to everyone that decides to watch it.

I don't understand the basic premise of this "show". I spent a total of almost 3 years working QA for a huge game publisher, and it's a shit job. There's no glamor to it. There's no drama (well, unless someone steals a leads lunch, and then people get fired). It's a boring, monotonous, soul sucking job which demands all of your free time while paying barely above minimum wage with no benefits, and then kicks you to the curb without warning the second they don't need you anymore. How do you make a television series out of that?

shhhh don't let them know! There is nothing relevant to actual testing on the show. If there were then it wouldn't be as fantastically awkwardly entertaining as it is!

It easy to make a show about his because there are many gamer fans that are completely delusional about what QA testing is. The show is the fantasy that people play games all day and that there voice can make game. Which for the most part your lucky that a bug filed is taken seriously.
This show is for super fanboys/girls and want-to-be tv stars to look like idiots.

I'm guessing you're not bound to keep the job for any length of time, or a VERY short amount of time. Otherwise, not just be in for the prizes? I guess that might depend on how long the competition is. It could be time away from actually looking for a better paying job than this.
I've seen game QA. Thetangent is pretty much on the money. Real QA is playing ONE game a billion times over. Not glamorous in the least little bit. You might get your name in the credits of a major release. Maybe.
