Hideo Kojima, renowned games creator, famous for his work on the Metal Gear franchise, has been recently showing off test images from his studio's in-development engine, the FOX Engine. Above is an example of what Kojima claims is an "avatar" created in an hour's time using his team's latest tools.

But, Kojima isn't simply promoting his new tech. More details about his next game, currently codenamed "Project Ogre," are leaking out--from Kojima himself.

While some believe his next may be Metal Gear Solid 5, Kojima's comments point to something quite different. Gamers have come to love and hate Kojima's long-winded, heavy-handed cutscenes--and it appears his next game will be light on the dramatics. "Rather than making something very cinematic, [I plan to] make something very free," Kojima told CNN (via OXM).

Kojima described his next game as an open world "where players can wander around and explore freely." The CNN report notes that you should be able to play the game "for as many as 100 hours," while still finding "new sights and worthwhile adventures."

Perhaps the open-world nature of the game explains the odd variety featured in the screenshots released thusfar? What else could explain how a single project could marry military tanks and see-thru women's clothing--other than a Hideo Kojima joint?
