Final Fantasy XIII-2 gets Xbox 360-exclusive DLC
by Andrew Yoon, Dec 21, 2011 9:45am PSTMicrosoft has managed to win more exclusive third-party DLC. But, this one doesn't seem like quite the victory. Square Enix has announced that the Xbox 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII-2 will offer exclusive DLC: "Azrael," a bow weapon for Serah to use in the game.
"Azrael is named after an angel who represents spirits and death. It is believed to possess the power to change the owner’s destiny, and the player’s Chain Bonus will upgrade when equipped," the announcement details.
Oddly, the DLC will not be offered for free for Xbox 360 owners. Instead, it will cost 80 Microsoft Points ($1). The add-on will be available at launch: January 31, 2012.
Perhaps of more interest to Xbox 360 owners than exclusive for-pay DLC is the fact that the Xbox 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII-2 is likely to perform better than its predecessor. Comparison screens from Japan highlight the (lack of) differences between the two platforms. Additionally, XIII-2 will ship on only one disc, unlike the 3 DVDs of the original game.
