Three million more have flocked to the world of Skyrim over the past month. The game's launch was met with 7 million copies shipped. In the month since release, the game has won Game of the Year at the Spike TV Video Game Awards, and has shipped three million more copies.

Across all three platforms, the game has generated approximately $650 million in retail sales since release according to figures released by Bethesda. In addition, the PC version of Skyrim "outside all other PC games by a factor of over three to one in the month of its release."

Skyrim isn't just a retail success; it's dominating the digital charts as well. Valve's Jason Holtman claims that "Skyrim is the fast selling title in Steam's history," adding "we are delighted that Bethesda chose to use Steamworks to support Skyrim both at retail and digitally."

"We are most grateful to our fans for their support," ZeniMax CEO Robert Altman said in a press release. He then teased that "2012 will be another huge year for our fans, with the release of the Creation Kit, as well as exciting DLC which will add to the richness of this epic adventure."

The Creation Kit will take advantage of Steam Workshop in order to easily enable mod authors to upload their work directly to Steam, where it can be browsed, rated, and installed for free. DLC has yet to be announced, but all add-ons will be exclusive to Xbox 360 first.

I did my part in helping out, don't regret it i'm happy to say. They really made a nice world to explore, although it's far from perfect it's a hell of alot better than I expected.

I just beat the main quest at 116 hours. Had burnt myself out and speed ran the last few parts of it. Worth every fucking penny.

I'm also at ~130 hours, and I still didn't finish. I just got the email last night for the SWKoR early access, I'm gonna slow down a bit and wait for more mods before I finish as I don't want to rush the end. But, yes, worth every fucking penny indeed!!

It's crazy. I've played 62 hours so far, only level 37 and I've juat begun the civil war quests.

I've had to take a few days off from it so I don't burn out but I could easily see hitting well above 100 satisfactory hours on this game. The crazy thing is I didn't like Oblivion at all, go figure.

That's because Oblivion sucks without a couple dozen mods.

134 here and slowing down. Either I start again after finals are over or SWTOR kills it off for good.

I haven't played much in the last few days, but I'm over 100 hours and still have tons to do in the game. Now that finals are over, I think I might resume playing it nightly.

You think this game will move more than 10 mil units sold when we look at the numbers 6 months from now?

Yes. I think there are plenty of PC gamers like me who haven't bought it yet, and plenty of console gamers who rented it and plan on buying it later.

from one of the linked stories in the article...

According to the announcement, "the first two add-on content drops for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be releasing on Xbox 360, 30 days before it's available anywhere else."

      whaaaaaaaat??

That doesn't really make a lot of sense... So, Microsoft paid to get early DLC, not exclusive? As if anyone is going to go "ohshi I bought the wrong version! better go buy a copy for XBox and play through the whole fucking game again!!"

The only thing I can come up with is that they decided to inflict "beta testing" the DLC on the XBox users, since it will probably break something.

        I really liked Skyrim btw.

70 hours in and no end in sight. I'm not sure how much of the main story I have still to go, but I've not touched TDB or Companions questlines for example, and still plenty of areas on the map I've not explored. I'm thinking I'd rush the main story through soon and leave some exploding and questing for a second playthrough on the hardest difficulty. I'm very much a stealth / dagger / bow kind of character now and I'm really wanting to try out a good old fashioned sword/shield guy. Can someone estimate how big a part of the main story I still have remaining:

I just defeated the main dragon for the first time on top of the mountain after getting the scroll.

On the PC? Because Modern Warfare 3 is on Steam too and that must have sold more than Skyrim.

10 million total, all platforms. The only steam specific quote is "fastest selling title in Steam's history." Hint: reading comprehension is a useful skill to have.

Don't have any figures or anything but just by checking the Steam top 10 selling games each day and the daily peak concurent players since they launched, Skyrim has consistantly been way ahead.

took me 121 hours from start to finish doing all the side quests i could find.
despite the terrible amount of bugs that i have no idea how they couldn't notice, this is a very very good game, probably one of the best of this generations. sits right next to portal 2 and mass effect 1 and 2 on my shelf
