Star Wars: The Old Republic is rolling out its early access as it prepares to launch, but like any good MMO, the developers already have ambitious plans for the future. Game director James Ohlen outlined some of the patches to come soon.

New Guild features are a top priority, including Guild banks in the near future, and the longer-term goal of Guild Capital Ships. Speaking of ships, Ohlen also promises more space combat missions, and a "special project" that will "expand space gameplay in a significant way."

The full list is pretty lengthy. Ohlen also teases more PvP features, including new Warzones. New worlds will include Operations, Flashpoints, and solo content. Legacy experience will be updated to give you special powers, objects, and other benefits. Finally, the team is working on letting players customize their UI. These features are already slated, but Ohlen says that the team intends to respond to feedback as well.

"It is fair to say that we're just as excited as you are about the launch of Star Wars: The Old Republic," said Ohlen in the announcement. "Not only are we launching one of the largest and most impressive games ever created, but we're also excited about the prospect of continuing to work on the game so that you, the fans, will always have something heroic and amazing to enjoy."

Guild capital ships? Intriguing. I imagine it will just be a house shaped like a spaceship... But there are opportunities there beyond just housing.

They already have ships you can interior travel in the game. What would be great is a guild ship that could travel with all the guildies within, so you could transport the entire guild between raids.

what a disaster this pre-order early access has been. Bioware has realized why other companies haven't done early access in waves. No one wants to sit around after they pre-order and watch other people who also pre-ordered get to play while they don't. We all pre-ordered, let us play the fucking game.

a disaster cause you're not playing? get outta here dude, they are doing it to not overload their servers and have time to bring more online if they need it or to correct something going to shit - they game doesn't officially come out till the 20th

getting in early is a bonus, hardly a "disaster"

the only disaster is that you didn't preorder on july 21st

whatever. EVERYONE who preordered on July 21st got in yesterday. What you meant to say is I preordered on July 21st but didn't register my code till last night.

Don't blame someone else for our own stupidity.

The whole code redemption process is a bit clumsy. I guess there's another code coming when they game full launches too. What was the point of buying this through Origin.

Nothing new. A code that flags your account for early access and then your cdkey that proves you bought the game and gives you 30 days of game time.

They've outlined their plans for early access long ago, this is no surprise, don't whine and bitch because you didn't pre-order and put your code in until later. It's not their fault, it's yours.

It's been pretty fucking amazing to log on at 7pm and have no queue and no server lag. I'm calling this HUGE SUCCESS.

I hope this comes to pass: Guild Capital Ships

      They're pointless, but awesome.

"My guild ship and your guild ship, at Corellian orbit tomorrow night. Be there or be square!"

It would be cool if PvP guilds can space battle and then board each other's ship in a battle.

They tried a similar concept in City of Heroes with base raids. It met with very limited success before fading away. A world dedicated to Realm vs. Realm style of play would be fun...except for what appears to be an average of 3 -1 or 4-1 odds favoring Empire.

Yeah, nobody wants to rebuild destroyed base items. Especially expensive ones. Then people got into base decorating and nobody was gonna mess that up.

a "special project" that will "expand space gameplay in a significant way."

Need more input here. Are we talking Rebel Assault gameplay, Rogue Squadron gameplay, or X-Wing/Tie-Fighter gameplay?

Because if it's the last one they can charge me whatever the hell they want per month.

I remember them saying it will be more like rogue squadron than x-wing series. Whilst that is slightly dissapointing, its still a huge step in the right direction.
