Nintendo outlined its plans for the first quarter of 2012 today, which includes release dates for some of the anticipated first-party titles. Most notable for fans of Nintendo's first-party games is a solid release date for Kid Icarus: Uprising on March 23. The Circle Pad Pro will come alongside Resident Evil Revelations on February 7, for $19.99, and exclusive to GameStop stores.

Downloadable titles include Kirby's Block Ball, Dillon's Rolling Western, and Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword from Nintendo, VVVVVV and NightSky from Nicalis, Mighty Switch Force from WayForward, and Mutant Mudds from Renegade Kid. Each of these, along with the retail game Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D, are set vaguely for the first quarter of 2012.

Plus, Nintendo hasn't entirely forgotten the Wii yet. Rhythm Heaven Fever will hit on February 13 for $29.99, and PokePark 2: Wonders Beyond will release on February 27. Mario Party 9 follows on March 11, just in case you aren't partied out from the other times Mario has hosted.

Yeah, it doesn't make sense at all. Nintendo usually ships its products here, there, and everywhere.

If I may posit? I have a theory.

Nintendo didn't want to confuse the walmart/target/etc shoppers

What the hell is Nintendo's love affair with Gamestop lately?

Yeah, but that can't be all of it. Gamestop can't be that big a selling partner to garner hardware exclusives can they? Unless they're literally paying Nintendo to put the product on their shelves (on top of MSRP).

Yes... but I really wish this was a 2d or 2.5d side-scroller type game. If they did something like Kid Icarus meets Shadow Complex.. I would be MUCH more excited about that.

It would turn into "Kid Icarus Story" and I would be sad :(

Yeah... there is potential for that as well. It could be great though!
