Mesmer confirmed as final Guild Wars 2 profession

The Mesmer has been revealed, albeit a tad early, as the eighth and final profession in Guild Wars 2.

Due to the fact that "someone jumped the gun" on embargoed information, ArenaNet has confirmed that the eighth and final profession for Guild Wars 2 will be the Mesmer.

The masters of illusion and control have been a staple in the Guild Wars series since the game was first released, which was eventually referred to as the "Prophecies" campaign.

ArenaNet's official Twitter account confirmed the news earlier today, saying "Yes, Mesmer is the final profession. Seems like someone jumped the gun." The profession's full reveal is still slated for Wednesday, when the information was originally planned to be released.

According to Massively, the information leaked when GameReactor Denmark jumped the embargo and posted a video featuring the Mesmer in Guild Wars 2 early. The video has since been removed.

The selection isn't as surprising as it was expected. As a Guild Wars fan, I had began fashioning my castle storming weapons on the off chance ArenaNet announced another profession was the game's last launch batch. We'll have the full reveal for the profession on Wednesday.

Had a shutdown mesmer, good against bosses that can keep casting without much cooldown.

I wonder how this information leaking a couple days early will affect sales?

yeah same here man... i had a monk too.. and always found it challenging to balance others' red bars and my blue one... :)
always felt very rewarding.. highlight was when i was the only monk in a group doing Thunderhead Keep and we had a solid group that knew what to do when.. had an excellent Mesmer in that team.. and we managed to win comfortably in the end.. it was brilliant.. many say that you cant do the Keep mission with just one monk but we did it :)

it was really amusing to me how some places late game in GW as an ElMo I would just take all Mo skills and be a better healer thanks to all my mana.

I had a 55hp invinci-monk build. She was a farming machine. I would also swap loadouts to do life-bond monk for that area where you carry the gears around (forget the name).
