BioWare's new game reveal for the Spike TV Video Game Awards have been just announced. As predicted, Command & Conquer: Generals 2 is a follow-up to the original PC game from 2003. Generals was a real-time strategy game, pitting the US against China and the Global Liberation Army. The VGA reveal was very short, but it revealed that the sequel will be powered by Frostbite 2, the same engine that powered Battlefield 3. The game is currently scheduled for 2013. Update: New studio called "BioWare Victory" is developing, and is planning a PC-exclusive release. And check out some of the first screenshots:

It's being done by Bioware? Will we have multiple endings??

Also platforms. If it gets on any consoles at all, I will be amazed.

Not being made by Bioware. Victory Games was already working on this, and EA simply decided to slap the Bioware label on them. The Bioware you're familiar with is Bioware Edmonton, which is responsible for all those lovely RPGs.

Definitely the best game announcement I've seen in a long time. Sequel to one of my favorite C&C games, and running on the Frosbite engine?! Time to upgrade my CPU and video card.

C&C4 had persistent connecting DRM; I'm guessing that this might have it too if they want to prevent duping. It's a foregone conclusion that it will require Origin, since it's an EA game.

C&C Generals was the best strategy game out there for the longest time. Tons of folks loved it. I'd still be playing multiplayer if it wasn't for the damn out of sync bug that constantly happens with the larger games

So what you're saying is that a small portion of the internet will bitch and moan and claim it's worse than the holocaust but end up buying it anyways? Sounds like par for the course for game releases these days.

Well if they do the persistent DRM thing like C&C4 then everyone will just ignore the game. I didn't even realize C&C4 had been released for like a month since no one was talking about it. Notice it didn't have expansion packs or anything, which is real unusual for a C&C game.

I really liked that Generals' Air force used actual plane physics and didn't just go the "everything is VTOL" route.

      Hope they keep that.
