Bayonetta developer making an MGS game? This is pretty much the best news.

Will it have a button so we can play it only pushing that one button like Bayonetta did? XD

there literally was a super easy mode where you could play the entire game pressing one button. It was designed that way.

didn't even have to move your character for the most part.

You joke, but that was a fun mode to play in, because it let you concentrate on the TIMING of each attack command, and automatically cycled through what it felt was the most effective combo. For someone just jumping into the game, I recommend starting a game in "Very Easy" in parallel to their "Normal" save.

MGS trailers are never meant to be taken seriously, they are supposed to be ridiculous.

Cool, but from what i remember, all the real MGS games were pretty serious trailer based, no? Either way, never been a fan, but that was the comedy highlight of that awful VGA show I shall never watch again.

They are usually serious then have some funny gag at the end. This one was just ridiculous.

More and more I just view the MGS as a huge tongue in cheek wink to the industry as a whole, since it's pretty clear that Kojima doesn't take the game anywhere near as serious as some of the fanbase; and I'm perfectly okay with that. It's the quirky, funny, cheesy elements that make the games appealing to me.

This is how I've always view the MGS series and why I enjoy them. People complain they are over the top but I think that is exactly what they are going for in the games. People expecting a Splinter Cell OMG real terrorists experience from the MGS series are doing it wrong.

Not sure how much weight this holds, but here's the link to Platinum's blog entry on this announcement: http://platinumgames.com/2011/12/11/metal-gear-rising-revengeance-hits-the-vgas/

Pretty standard text, but note one thing: no mention is made on the Platinum-side producer, but in the tag text is "Atsushi Inaba".

There was also a previous announcement by Tatsuya Minami, the CEO of Platinum Games: http://platinumgames.com/2011/12/11/an-unexpected-title-announcement/

Again, in the tags, "Atsushi Inaba". Inaba is currently producing Anarchy Reigns, a MadWorld-fiction brawler with online features. Is he the producer for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance?

Hideki Kamiya was the producer for Bayonetta, but I've seen no mention of him for Anarchy Reigns or for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. I'm very curious to see what he's doing next.

Anyway, I think it's disingenuous of outlets to use the phrase "Bayonetta team" when the Metal Gear game probably isn't the team that made Bayonetta. No confirmations either way yet, but this is what the "gaming press" are running with right now, and I think it's wrong.

No, I don't think it means that. I have a feeling that Kamiya's working on something unannounced right now; no idea what it is, but it's probably not ready for release by the end of 2012, so it's not revealed yet.

One other odd factoid: Bayonetta 600th birthday will be December 19, 2011. This is also Hideki Kamiya's 41st birthday. Let's see what the Platinum blog says that day.

Game will probably be a good game, but not a Metal Gear game. I laughed as my heart sank watching this trailer.

The original footage of this game from earlier this year (or was it last? :/) made it look daker (in the palette at least) and...stealthy. This...not so much. Metal gear hack-n-slash? Nooo thanks.

I think so too. I hoping they keep that cutting disc...that's what impressed me from the original trailer. It looks like it still exists in some form, based on a couple of the scenes. I really hope they keep it.

I finally got to see the trailer; this looks almost like the Vanquish protagonist with Bayonetta's katana, cranked up to 11. It looks like a Platinum-style game, and it's probably going to piss off a bunch of Metal Gear fans along the way, but...

        A. Damn, it looks fun.
        B. I don't see Kojima coming out with anything better that would appeal to the core MGS fans.

The previous trailer was from E3 2010, and it just had the "Cut at will" part. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zq0K94soMJU

To me, the "gameplay sections" at the end looked about as much "Metal Gear hack-n-slash" as the new trailer did, only slightly less fast-paced and frantic.
