Pirates of the Caribbean director making Kinect game
by Andrew Yoon, Dec 06, 2011 2:30pm PSTGore Verbinski, best known for his work on the original Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, is partnering with Microsoft to bring games exclusively to Xbox 360. The first game produced by this partnership will be an Xbox Live Arcade exclusive that takes advantage of the Kinect motion sensor.
Blind Wink Productions, Verbinksi's transmedia company, is aiming to have the game ready for late 2012.
Blind Wink's first production was Rango, an animated film directed by Verbinski starring Johnny Depp (pictured above). According to The Hollywood Reporter (via MTV), "the new deal is intended to bring cinematic qualities" to the studio's upcoming games.
“Xbox 360 gamers can look forward to innovative and creative games from the mind of Gore Verbinski that explore new and exciting gaming territory and take full advantage of our platforms," Microsoft Studios general manager Matt Booty told the paper.
