GOG.com offering 50 percent off 'virtually' every game beginning Dec. 12
"Virtually" every game in the GOG.com catalog will be half off from December 12 through January 2, the site revealed.
Getting into the holiday spirit, the DRM-hating folks at Good Old Games have decided to reduce prices on a number of titles for the rest of the month. GOG.com is also including a free copy of the original Witcher with new purchases of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings.
The biggest offer, however, is half-off "virtually" every game in the GOG.com catalog. The site revealed it plans to run this sale from December 12 through January 2.
The Witcher 2 offer--with included free copy of the original--is available for 48 hours starting at 6 a.m. ET on Thursday, December 8. The game is priced at $23.99, down from $39.99.
As a special holiday treat for all, GOG.com is offering a free copy of Empire Earth: Gold Edition to all users for 48 hours hours starting at 6 a.m. ET on Monday, December 12.

it was 16 bucks already on multiple digital distribution platforms like direct2drive and amazon. thats incredible value for that small amount of money. the game was sold at 30 bucks a few times on gog already and i'm sure it will be just as cheap if not significantly cheaper this time around.

I guess next week would be a good time to buy all of the Ultima games they have on there. Never really played the series much before then.

Thanks to all the indie bundles I have a very wide variety of different games on Steam now. Used to be all I had was FPS games.
I can say games are definitely still very cool. It's mostly that they're different now. Part of that is that the kind of games GOG have are were the kind of low-graphic game that had a top notch dev team whereas today there's AAA teams and indies and a huge divide between them.
I think another thing is that a lot of these games were bade before the game business was a major entertainment industry. Back when people had no idea what they were doing, and hadn't been shat on a hundred times with layoffs and death marches.

Hahaha a free copy of Empire Earth. That game blew, the AI cheats so bad.
I want to see how many people buy this between now and then though for lols.-
Empire Earth was pretty good. Much better than the crapy sequels.
My favourite Stainless Steel Studios game was Empires: Dawn of the Modern World
There could have been many good games out of that studio untill Midway screwed them over.

I've already got DN3D, Descent 1+2, Blood, and Ground Control.
Could get: Last Express, Fallout 1+2, JA2, Populous 1+2, Alpha Centauri, BG2.-
Yeah, I have yet to pick up AC or the BG games... this could do me in.

im tempted to buy total annihilation even though i have the cds still. are there still online communities that play this still? with modern computers and internet connections, there could be huge battles
